Community Blood Center/Community Tissue Services Names New President and Members to the Board of Trustees
DAYTON, OHIO - Community Blood Center/Community Tissue Services (CBC/CTS) has named Dr. James T. Lehner President of its Board of Trustees and elected two new members to the board.
CBC/CTS elected Dr. James T. Lehner Board of Trustees President. Dr. Lehner, an orthopaedic surgeon served as the Vice President of the CBC/CTS Board since 1997. In addition, from 1994-2004, he chaired the CBC/CTS' Medical Advisory Committee.
Retiring from seven years of exemplary service as Board of Trustees President is Dr. Daniel Hood. Dr. Hood is the Medical Director of CompuNet Clinical Laboratories and Valley Pathologists. During Dr. Hood's tenure, CBC/CTS experienced tremendous growth while many medical and technical advances were made in transfusion medicine as well as in tissue transplantation. In addition, Dr. Hood chaired CBC's first capital campaign. Dr. Hood will continue to serve as a member of the CBC/CTS Board of Trustees.
Dr. Lehner earned a Bachelor of Science in pre-medical from University of Notre Dame in 1970, followed by his degree as a M.D. from Ohio State University in 1973. Dr. Lehner served internships and residencies at Mount Carmel Hospital in Columbus and Miami Valley Hospital, and a fellowship at Kosair Crippled Children's Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. He is Board certified in orthopaedic surgery.
Dr. Lehner is a member of several community service, academic and professional organizations. Locally, he serves on the board of trustees of Goodwill Industries, where he is also on the Goodwill Workforce Development Committee. Dr. Lehner is also a member of the Montgomery County Medical Society, Ohio State Medical Association, American Medical Association, Dayton Orthopaedic Society, Ohio Orthopaedic Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Scoliosis Research Society, Orthopaedics Overseas, Mid-America Orthopaedic Society, Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of N.A., American College of Surgeons, Irish American Orthopaedic Society and American Academy of Pediatrics.
Newly elected to the Board:
Thomas A. Routsong, President/Owner of Routsong Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Routsong received his Bachelors Degree from Albion College in 1979 and graduated from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1981. He is very active in his community and is a member of Oakwood Rotary Club, Far Hills Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, Antioch Shrine and Dayton Art Institute. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Anthony R. Joy, CPA, Director - Internal Audit & Advisory Services at NCR Corporation brings a strong business background to the board. Joy received his BA in Business Administration and Accounting from Baldwin-Wallace College. Joy began his career at NCR Corporation in 1999 as Project Manager - Internal Audit & Advisory Services. He is also a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Business Manager. He currently serves as an Executive Board Member, Treasurer & Chief Financial Officer and Chairman, Investment Committee for Fisher/Nightingale Houses, Inc.
Elected to the Executive Committee of the Board were Dr. Patricia McDowell, Vice President; Mr. Randal Lennartz, Secretary; Mr. Mark Shaw, Treasurer; Mr. Chris Conard, At-Large; and Dr. George Brown, At-Large.
Community Blood Center/Community Tissue Services (CBC/CTS), an independent, not-for-profit organization, is ISO 9001:2000 Certified. Community Blood Center is the sole provider of blood components to twenty-five hospitals in the Miami (Ohio) and Whitewater (Indiana) Valleys. Community Tissue Services serves the public through procurement, processing and distribution of human tissue donations used for transplantation.
