Community Blood Center/Community Tissue Services Buys Downtown Property

DAYTON, OH –Today, Community Blood Center/Community Tissue Services (CBC/CTS) announced the acquisition of a downtown Dayton property.  The property, located at 330 S. Ludlow Street, is a 10,000 square foot building situated on a .75 acre site on Ludlow Street, behind CBC/CTS’ downtown location. 

The acquisition is part of CBC/CTS’ ten year master plan, which will allow CBC/CTS to continue and further its mission to save and enhance lives.  CBC/CTS provides more than 140,000 blood components for transfusion and more than 87,000 tissue grafts for transplantation yearly.  The current 110,000 square foot facility, at 349 South Main Street, headquarters all the services that CBC/CTS’ offers our community.  CBC/CTS has 544 employees nationwide, 426 locally in the Miami Valley.

According to Judith E. Woll, MD, CEO of Community Blood Center/Community Tissue Services, “the acquisition of the adjacent property to our main campus will allow CBC/CTS to expand our operations in the future as the demand for blood and tissue continues to grow.  The demand for blood and tissue is increasing annually due to medical advances, new technology and the aging of our population.”

Community Blood Center/Community Tissue Services, an independent, not-for-profit organization, is ISO 9001:2000 Registered.  Community Blood Center is the sole provider of blood components to the twenty-five hospitals in its fifteen county service area. Community Tissue Services serves the public through recovery, processing and distribution of human tissue donations used for transplantation. Community Tissue Services is composed of eight regional offices and three satellite offices:  Dayton, Ohio (Corporate Office); Fort Worth, Texas; Fresno, California; Indianapolis, Indiana; Memphis, Tennessee; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Portland, Oregon; and Toledo, Ohio.  Satellite locations:  Boise, Idaho, Connersville, Indiana, and Medford, Oregon.
