Community Blood Center/Community Tissue Services Hosts an Open House for the Community
DAYTON, OH - Community Blood Center/Community Tissue Services (CBC/CTS) is holding an open house for the public on Saturday, June 4, 2005, from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. The expansion and renovation of Community Blood Center/Community Tissue Services’ headquarters is now in its final phase of construction. Tours will be available to give the community a progress report on the project. There will also be a supervised kid’s play area and refreshments will be served.
According to Dr. Judith Woll, CEO of CBC/CTS, “We are excited for the public to tour our facility and to learn about Community Blood Center/Community Tissue Services and the many services we provide to area hospitals and patients in our community. The expansion and renovation will enable CBC/CTS to continue to meet the demands of patients who need blood transfusions or a tissue graft transplant.”
Community Blood Center/Community Tissue Services’ first Capital Campaign, Giving For Life, raised in excess of $2.5 million in support of the $7 million project. Gifts were received from CBC/CTS Board of Trustees and employees, many of its service hospitals, foundations, corporations, and caring individuals in our community. In addition, the project was funded via a bond issuance and operating funds.
This project has enabled CBC/CTS to increase tissue graft production capacity by 20%; increase the space devoted to the education and recruitment of blood donors; create a tissue procurement surgical suite; provide new training rooms and provide a staff lunchroom to accommodate the 400 persons working in Dayton. The expansion/renovation project will be completed in early 2006.
