Mid-South Tissue Bank Becomes an Affiliate of Community Blood Center/Community Tissue Services
DAYTON, OH - Community Tissue Services (CTS) announced today it has acquired Mid-South Tissue Bank in Memphis, Tennessee. For more than ten years, CTS has worked closely with Mid-South. Cathy Underwood, former
Chief Executive Officer of Mid-South will become the Executive Director.
CTS will continue the operation under the name of Mid-South Tissue Bank.
According to Cathy Underwood, Executive Director of Mid-South Tissue Bank, "CTS and Mid-South have had a very close association over the years sharing donor resources, and to become an affiliate of CTS is a great opportunity for Mid-South Tissue Bank and its employees."
"CTS has enjoyed a very positive, long standing relationship with Mid-South Tissue Bank and therefore, is happy to continue saving and enhancing lives in the Memphis area", stated CBC/CTS' CEO/Medical Director, Judith E. Woll, MD. "Memphis hospitals, physicians and surgeons, as well as all those in the communities we serve, will have access to a larger supply of tissue grafts for transplantation", Woll said.
CTS, an accredited member of the American Association of Tissue Banks, is one of the largest tissue banks in the United States. In 2004, the not-for-profit tissue bank distributed 85,000 soft tissue and bone grafts to over 2000 hospitals, physicians and surgeons. CTS is the largest nonprofit provider of skin grafts to surgeons for severe burn patients. CTS is committed to ongoing educational opportunities for the public and health professionals as well as to the education and support of donor families.
