Community Tissue Services Acquires RTI Donor Services’ Indiana Tissue Recovery Operations
DAYTON, OH -- Community Tissue Services (CTS), a division of Community Blood Center (CBC) headquartered in Dayton, Ohio announced today that RTI Donor Services has transferred the operational assets of its Connersville, Indiana tissue recovery offices to CBC/CTS. The Connersville location will become a satellite office of CTS-Indiana branch. Both CTS and RTI believe this transfer will continue excellent services to the Indiana community and the transition will be transparent to the community.
"RTI Donor Services is pleased that Community Tissue Services will continue the important role to provide tissue donation options and education to the citizens of Indiana," says Nancy R. Holland, RTI Donor Services Executive Director of Field Operations. "We are confident that Community Tissue Services also will ensure that these gifts benefit recipients through increased strength, mobility and quality of life."
“Indiana residents are committed to organ and tissue donation, and this acquisition will ensure that people in the Connersville area will continue to have the option of tissue donation. The new satellite office will provide an unbroken chain for the opportunity to make the gift of tissue donation to Community Tissue Services across eastern Indiana,” stated CBC/CTS Medical Director and CEO Judith E. Woll, MD. “The transition should run smoothly because we are familiar with the daily operations of RTI-Donor Services,” added Dr. Woll.
CTS, an accredited member of the American Association of Tissue Banks, is one of the largest tissue banks in the United States. In 2004, the not-for-profit tissue bank distributed 85,000 soft tissue and bone grafts to over 2000 hospitals, physicians and surgeons. CTS is the largest nonprofit provider of skin grafts to surgeons for severe burn patients.
