Dr. Judith E. Woll Promoted to Clinical Professor at Wright State University

Dr. Judith E. Woll, CEO and Medical Director of Community Blood Center/Community Tissue Services (CBC/CTS), was recently promoted to Clinical Professor of Pathology and Clinical Professor of Internal Medicine at Wright State University School of Medicine. Prior to this position, Dr. Woll was an Associate Professor of Pathology and Internal Medicine.

As CEO and medical director, Dr. Woll oversees all policy, strategic, fiscal, medical and operational aspects of CBC/CTS. CBC/CTS is an independent, not-for-profit organization. CBC provides blood products to 25 hospitals in 15 counties in Ohio and Indiana. CTS, serving the public through procurement, processing and distribution of tissue for transplantation, is composed of seven regional offices, including Dayton, Ohio; Fort Worth, Texas; Portland, Oregon; Fresno, California; Indianapolis, Indiana; Toledo, Ohio; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Prior to joining CBC/CTS in 1994, Dr. Woll served as the principal officer for American Red Cross Blood Services, Rochester, N.Y. region. Dr. Woll began her career with Highland Hospital in Rochester, where she served as associate director (1974-75) and director (1975-88) of hematology/oncology and Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Rochester.

Dr. Woll earned a Bachelor of Arts in biology from Brown University, Providence, R.I., in 1965, followed by her degree as a M.D. from the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine in 1969. Through her training, Dr. Woll served internships and residencies at Roosevelt Hospital and St. Luke’s Hospital in New York City and a fellowship in Hematology at the University of Rochester. She is Board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, Medical Oncology and Transfusion Medicine.

Dr. Woll is a member of several community service, academic and professional organizations. In Ohio, she serves on the board of trustees of Downtown Dayton Partnership, the Jewish Federation of Greater Dayton and Jewish Family Services. Nationally, she serves on the board of directors for America’s Blood Centers (ABC). Also, Dr. Woll is a member of the Montgomery County Medical Society, Ohio State Medical Association, American Medical Association, American Association of Blood Banks, America’s Blood Centers, and American Association of Tissue Banks.

Community Blood Center/Community Tissue Services, an independent, not-for-profit organization, is ISO 9001:2000 registered. Community Blood Center is the sole provider of blood components to the twenty-five hospitals in its fifteen county service area. Community Tissue Services serves the public through procurement, processing and distribution of human tissue donations used for transplantation.
