Thanks to the 289 persons who joined us for the grand opening celebration on May 19. The event included tours, entertainment, refreshments and a dedication program.
Colleen Ryan, president of Vectren Energy Delivery Ohio and a trustee for the CBC/CTS Foundation, did a terrific job as mistress of ceremonies. Dr. James Lehner, president of the CBC/CTS Board and Dr. David Smith, CEO, spoke eloquently of the need for the new center and of the fulfillment of the CBC/CTS mission of saving and enhancing lives. The highlight of the evening was Kate Taylor and Jeremy Warriner sharing their touching and life saving stories of receiving a tissue graft and of feeling grateful for their tissue donors while Frances Cordova, donor mother, told of the love she shared with her son, Steven, and of Steven’s love and concern for others which led to his decision to be a tissue donor. Reverend Vanessa Ward, co-pastor of Omega Baptist Church, offered a heart-warming blessing for the CTS workers and the mission fulfilled at the new facility. The program ended with a balloon launch of 50 balloons to signify the 50 lives one tissue donor saves and enhances.
Special thanks to our grand opening sponsors---Boost Rewards, Cori Graphics, Inc., John Poe Architects, PNC, ServiceMaster Clean, Shook Construction and Shumsky.
