Community Tissue Services™ was founded in 1986, as a division of Community Blood Center located in Dayton, Ohio. The tissue bank was established to meet the needs of the local surgeons and create awareness of the importance of tissue donation for transplantation. CTS has become one of the largest tissue banks in the country, and the largest non-profit provider of skin grafts to surgeons for severe burn patients.
CTS-Dayton provides service to 21 hospitals in an eleven county service area in Ohio. The service population base is approximately 1.1 million people. CTS-Dayton employs over 125 people to recover, process and distribute tissue grafts. Thousands of tissue grafts are distributed to local hospitals.
Our donor families are very important to us, and therefore we provide ongoing support after donation. CTS-Dayton, in conjunction with the local organ and eye recovery agencies, host a bi-annual event to honor our donors and families for their ultimate gift of life.
Additionally, CTS-Dayton participates in various public events and health fairs to raise community awareness of the critical need for organ and tissue donation and to promote the Ohio Donor Registry. Representatives are also available for speaking engagements, and tours of the Dayton facility are available upon request.
Contact Amy Moeder at amoeder@cbccts.org or (937) 222-0228 for more information about CTS-Dayton, to schedule a tour or if you would like a representative to speak at your educational institute, social or civic group.
